Counseling Vision

The vision of the Pinehurst Elementary counseling program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students to maximize their potential for academic success as lifelong learners. Our students will possess the necessary skills to be empathetic and compassionate toward others as well as independent and responsible adults. Our counseling program will work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to help implement the program in a systematic fashion to ensure all students succeed in school and become contributing members of their community, accepting of cultural diversity, and be critical thinkers, as they strive to understand the complexities of home, career, and community.

The counselors at Pinehurst Elementary School believe:

All students have the right to participate in a school counseling program.
All students’ ethical, cultural, racial, sexual differences and special needs are considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program.
All students 2-5 have access to a full time, state certified school counselor to deliver the counseling program.
All students have the ability and the right to learn coping strategies and manage challenging situations to be successful leaners and community.

The Pinehurst Elementary School Comprehensive School Counseling program will:

Foster a positive relationship between home, community, and school by collaborating with parent, teachers, administrators, and outside agencies and partnerships to support student success.
Conduct activates that contribute to a positive school climate and promote healthy self-concepts and acceptance of individual differences.
The counseling program and its components are student centered, data driven, and regularly evaluated.

The counselors at Pinehurst Elementary School will:

Create and adapt to meet the needs of the students.
Maintain ethical standards at all times and will strive for professional excellence through continued study and participation in professional organizations and workshops.
